Concept art for Spider-Man: No Way Home recreates an iconic image from a Spider-Man comic cover. The latest movie from the franchise features Tom Holland as the primary Peter Parker. Directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the movie once again has Spider-Man dealing with the multiverse, including the villains that his alternate self faced in previous Spider-Man movies.
Familiar villain faces such as Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx returned for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Doc Ock was heavily advertised in marketing material, so fans were ready to see the famous villain but surprised when other multiverse occurrences happened like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire reprising their own Peter Parkers. The critical response to the movie was overwhelmingly positive, and Spider-Man: No Way Home has broken box office and digital release records.

Concept art by Ryan Meinerding for Spider-Man: No Way Home recreates a famous comic cover. The art shows how the Doctor Octopus battle scene in No Way Home makes a nod to the old comic cover, showing Spider-Man wrapped up by Doc Ock's mechanical tentacles in the exact same position. Meinerding says he is heavily referencing Todd McFarlane's work on the comic cover.

The comic issue being referenced in the concept art has its own history, of course. From Marvel Tales Volume 2 #224 was released in June of 1989.
