New Spider-Man: No Way Homefan art makes MJ's rescue even more emotional by adding the ghost of Gwen Stacy. It's been four months now since Spider-Man: No Way Home entered theaters, and in many ways, it's still making waves. Directed by Jon Watts, the MCU flick has broken records on its way to a $1.8 billion worldwide box office total, and it even had some Oscar buzz going for a time. One of the reasons the movie has been such a resounding success is that it managed to bring back actors and characters from previous Spider-Man franchises, including Tom Holland's predecessors in the Peter Parker role, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Both Maguire and Garfield got major moments to shine in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it was the latter who really got to right a wrong from his previous movies. During the climactic battle, MCU Peter's girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) topples off some scaffolding and plummets toward the ground. Holland's Peter is unable to reach her, but Garfield's manages to swing in at the last minute and grab her. It's a direct parallel to the devastating moment in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, when Peter couldn't stop his own true love, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), from dying in a similar manner.

Garfield's big MJ rescue in No Way Home already inspired plenty of tears among fans, but one artist has taken it a step further. On social media, spdrmnkyxxiii posted an imagined moment right after Peter saves MJ. It looks just as it does in the film, only Gwen's ghost can be seen holding Peter, as if celebrating what he was able to do. Just try not to cry while looking at it — it's impossible.
