is coming to Nintendo Switch this July. Originally released on Apple Arcade, the roguelike action game follows the Turtles on their mission to rescue Master Splinter.
Nintendo and developer Super Evil Megacorp announced TMNT: Splintered Fate’s Switch port with a trailer on Wednesday. After the Shredder and his Foot Clan kidnap Splinter, the Turtles must travel through a series of reality-warping portals to get him back. Players can battle the Foot Clan and other classic TMNT enemies in single-player or two to four-player drop-in/drop-out co-op.
Using their iconic weapons, each Turtle brings unique abilities to the table. For example, Donatello’s staff gives his attacks a greater range than his brothers. However, the sai-armed Raphael has a higher chance of inflicting critical hits. Players can further customize the turtles with Turtle Powers unlocked at the end of each room. This allows TMNT: Splintered Fate players to create custom combos combining different abilities, though these powers reset at the end of each run. Between runs, however, players can unlock permanent upgrades called Artifacts with currency collected during each run.
The trailer also notes that Splintered Fate’s console port is only a timed Switch exclusive. It’s impossible to say which other platforms it might come to or when that will happen. Still, there is a decent chance that Xbox and PlayStation users will eventually get to play it.
Ninja Turtles fans have certainly been eating well in the games department lately. 2022 and 2023 saw the release of Shredder’s Revenge and the Cowabunga Collection on PC and consoles. Meanwhile, TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants comes to PCs and consoles on April 23.
