PlayStation overhauled PS Plus in 2022, splitting the service into three tiers. If you're subscribed to the highest tier, PS Plus Premium, then you currently have access to a library of trials. Tasters of mostly new games that you can play for a few hours before deciding whether to buy the full versions. Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are among them, and now The Last Of Us 2 Remastered has joined them.
PlayStation shared on social media that the remastered version of the newest The Last Of Us is available to play through Premium's trials, giving subscribers the first two hours of the game for free. That's long enough to see something integral to the game's story happen that will almost definitely make you want to keep playing to see how everything plays out. Some of you will know what I'm referencing, but I'm assuming those interested in the trial might not so I won't be spoiling it here.
If you're subscribed to Premium, all you need to do to play your two free hours of The Last of Us Part 2 is head to its store page, either through the store on your PS5 or via the link in the box below. If you're not subscribed to Premium, or any tier of PS Plus, there's a box with a link a little further down in this article that will take you to the PlayStation Plus hub where you can either sign up or upgrade your current subscription.
The Last Of Us Part 2's remaster is an updated version of the sequel for PS5. It also adds cut levels and a roguelike mode called No Return to the game.
You can also head to the PS Plus tab on your PS5 where you will find a list of games that currently have trials available. You can check out that list whether you're subscribed to Premium or not. If you are already subscribed, The Last Of Us Part 2 should be listed and you can download and then start playing the trial. A trial for the recently released TopSpin 2K25 is also available now.
