THQ Nordic has confirmed its annual digital showcase will take place on August 2, 2024, and has already teased some of the games that will be part of the lineup. Among the confirmed games are Gothic Remake and Titan Quest 2, two games that made an appearance at THQ Nordic's 2023 Digital Showcase but still don't have a set release date. The publisher also promises some surprises at the event.
THQ Nordic is a subsidiary of Embracer Group, a holding company that has acquired numerous studios in recent years. However, the holding company was unable to sustain its entire production line and studios, leading to significant layoffs in the past months. The most recent development saw the Embracer Group split into three companies: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends. THQ Nordic falls under the umbrella of Coffee Stain & Friends.
Now, with THQ Nordic's Digital Showcase on August 2, it will be possible to see the publisher's future outlook. In a Twitter post, THQ Nordic shared that Gothic Remake and Titan Quest 2 will have exciting updates at the event. Gothic Remake is set to release in 2024, but without a fixed date, while Titan Quest 2 has yet to reveal its gameplay. Those interested in the event can watch it on YouTube, Twitch, or Steam at 12 PM PDT / 3 PM EDT / 8 PM BST.
In addition to these two announcements, THQ Nordic has promised surprises. The 2023 digital showcase had over 50 minutes of announcements, revealing games like South Park: Snow Day and Titan Quest 2. On the occasion, the publisher said it had 37 games in development, with 20 of them still unannounced. But considering all the turmoil Embracer Group went through, including layoffs at Black Forest Games, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic, it is speculated that many of these games were canceled.
