Thor: Love & Thunder will mark the hero's fourth solo journey, the most of any MCU character, but it can also be monumental in breaking a big Phase 4 trend. Taika Waititi returns to the helm after directing the hugely successful Thor: Ragnarok to continue the God of Thunder's journey. Thor: Love & Thunder will be the sixth film in the very crowded MCU Phase 4 slate, but hopefully, by breaking one trend it can lighten the load.
Ever since the multiverse opened, the MCU has embraced the opportunity to include virtually anything in its stories. It set to work quickly after Thanos' defeat, eager to create an event that could rival the size of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and it has done just that. From Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's returns in Spider-Man: No Way Home, to the return of Patrick Stewart's Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even Vincent D'Onofrio's reappearance as Kingpin in Hawkeye, the MCU has really upped its game. However, Thor: Love & Thunder would do the MCU a favor by breaking this Phase 4 trend.

The last two MCU films, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness, have been defined by their cameo potential and fan expectations. Even Morbius, a Sony property, had the MCU's Vulture in the film. It's started to become expected of Marvel films to include some sort of surprise cameo that will send audiences into overdrive as they frantically analyze every frame of a trailer.
