The joyously colorful trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder actually harbored a sad Avengers: Infinity War detail. Taking place after an especially rough time for Thor, Thor: Love and Thunder sees the character return to a leading role in his own movie, going on a journey of self-discovery. The traumatic experiences of losing family, friends, and his home planet, seem to have taken a toll on him, and one detail in the trailer pays homage to a particularly sad moment from Infinity War.
In Infinity War, Thor lost not only his best friend Heimdall, but also his brother, Loki. The two had a tumultuous relationship from the start, with Loki as the villain in both Thor and The Avengers, but they eventually came to their own kind of reconciliation in Thor: Ragnarok after the destruction of Asgard. Their conflicting bond could be played for comedy, such as the hilarious ''get help'' scene, but it could also have some really heart-wrenching moments too, and by the end, there was no doubt that the two brothers do love each other.
