Dwayne «The Rock» Johnson is making a secret video game movie. As one of Hollywood's most bankable action stars, Johnson always seems to keep himself busy with an impressive list of upcoming projects, and while promoting the film Black Adam, he mentioned plans to adapt a popular video game for the big screen—but which game could it be?
Although adaptations of video games used to be resounding failures, the genre has turned around in more recent years. Johnson himself is no stranger to video game movies, having previously starred in the critically panned Doom adaptation, as well as the much more successful Rampage. Now, he seems eager to try again, saying in an interview, «We’re going to bring one of the biggest, most badass games to the screen—one that I’ve played for years. I’m really excited to bring it to fans around the world. Of course, we’re going to do right by our gamer friends—but really we’re just going to make a great movie.»

There are many possibilities for what this secret film could be, but the most likely video game movie The Rock hopes to make is Call of Duty. This gaming franchise is incredibly popular, having produced over 19 titles in the series, many of which are set in different locations or time periods. Johnson has said in the past that he'd be interested in bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops to the big screen, and it's possible that he never let go of the idea. Black Ops follows a CIA operative during the Cold War and would be right in Johnson's wheelhouse, since the actor has previously played a CIA agent alongside Kevin Hart in the comedy Central Intelligence, and, more recently, a special agent in Netflix's Red Notice.
