It's been a couple of years since the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie hit theaters in early 2020, but we all still gotta go fast. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is spin dashing into theaters in just a couple of months, and we couldn't be any more excited. After all, the first movie was such a blast that we can't help but yearn for the further adventures of the chili dog-loving hedgehog.
Sonic 2 brings much of the original movie's cast together, embraces characters from the numerous video game sequels, and--seemingly--goes even bigger and more ridiculous with the action and antics Sonic finds himself in the middle of. In short, it looks a lot like what you'd expect from a follow-up to the first movie.
Given that the next Sonic is heading to theaters relatively soon, we know quite a bit about the film. So let's take a look at every bit of information that's been released about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 so far.
The next Sonic movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on April 8. It'll be the second video game movie of the year, following Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
As with the first film, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is directed by Jeff Fowler.
Screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller return to script the new film. This time, they're joined by Josh Whittington (The Lego Batman Movie, The Lego Ninjago Movie) on screenplay duty.
