The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition just came out for the current console generation, and it has been offering a disappointing performance to most players. This new edition of The Outer Worlds promised to run smoothly on 60fps, but this claim is a far cry from the current state of the port.
Originally released by Obsidian back in 2019, The Outer Worlds is a single-player sci-fi RPG that promised to offer an experience akin to Fallout: New Vegas in space. The game was fairly successful, so a next-gen version was announced last year. At the time, it was promised that this new edition would get all currently released DLC and improved performance.

After The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition’s launch, however, it seems that all promises of good performance were not very realistic. Most gamers were pretty excited to run this game in a dynamic 4K resolution, and get 60fps at all times on their current-gen consoles. However, while the visuals look better than the original, there are reports of constant frame rate drops, which never seem to reach 60fps for more than a few seconds. The problem is so significant that it even affects gameplay. According to people who are currently playing this new edition, sometimes the game does not even register that buttons are pressed during frame rate drops, which causes a very clunky experience.
The version that was released on Steam is not faring any better than the consoles. Most people seem to agree that the game runs far worse than the original one, suffering from all the problems that consoles have, no matter which GPU the player is using.
