The next entry in the Call of Duty series, set for a 2024 release, is a Black Ops title developed by Treyarch, according to a report from Windows Central.
Set against the backdrop of the ‘90s Gulf War, the game aims to present a fresh perspective by focusing on a «nuanced narrative» of the conflict. Codenamed «Cerberus,» and internally referred to as Black Ops 6, the upcoming game is said to feature tech and gadgets befitting the era of the game’s setting and hew closer in general to the sorts of things players found in older Black Ops titles.
Earlier leaks suggest that a number of iconic maps from prior Black Ops games are said to return, such as WMD and Grind. Windows Central is also reporting that Activision is planning to allow players who pre-order into the game early, which is par for the course at this point when it comes to Call of Duty games.
There’s no confirmed date at this time for the release of the next Call of Duty title, but we expect it will drop sometime in the holiday window of 2024, which is typical for the series.
