According to Film Ratings, Marvel Studios’ newest superhero team-up movie has officially been granted a PG-13 rating by the MPA for “action/violence and brief language.” This is an unsurprising outcome, given that all of the previously released movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe are rated PG-13. The only MCU movie expected to have a different MPA rating is the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3, which would become the blockbuster studio’s first R-rated film.
The Marvels is directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman) from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell. Leading the movie are Oscar winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Additional cast also includes MCU vet Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, and popular South Korean actor Park Seo-Joon in an undisclosed role.
“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence,” reads the synopsis. “But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels.”
The Marvels is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 10 as part of the MCU’s Phase Five.
