The Mandalorian creator John Favreau has been officially immortalized as a Star Wars action figure, which will be made exclusively available as a preorder at Star Wars Celebration 2022.
The figure itself transplants a replica of Favreau's head on the body of Paz Vizsla, the burly Mandalorian warrior who debuted in the first season of the Disney series and appeared again in Book of Boba Fett. In that series, Viszla challenged Din Djarin for control of the Darksaber. Here's what it looks like (via IGN):
Vizsla was voiced by Favreau during his appearances, so the decision to base the film director's action figure body on the imposing Mandalorian warrior is quite apt. Another interesting fact is that the figure is named «Jon Favreau,» so technically this is a toy of him in Vizsla cosplay, complete with a helmet, jetpack, and weapons. Plus, it looks better than Tom Holland's Nathan Drake replica from the Uncharted movie.
This isn't the first time that one of the key creative figures in modern Star Wars has been given the action figure treatment, as a Dave Filoni figure was released last year. That figure cast the Star Wars Rebels creator as Trapper Wolf, a New Republic pilot who has made a cameo in The Mandalorian. For the collectors out there, there are also figures of George Lucas as a Stromtrooper and concept artist Ralph McQuarrie as General McQuarrie.
The Jon Favreau figure is priced at $40 and will be available in the fall. Hasbro will also hand out one-time codes at its booth during Star Wars Celebration 2022 that will allow for the collectible to be purchased from the Hasbro Pulse website, and limited quantities will be up for sale after the event. The festivities begin tomorrow and will run until May 29.
