A new version of the excellent The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Dynamic FPS mod is now available for download, introducing significant performance improvements that reduce stuttering considerably.
The 1.4 version of the mod, which can be downloaded by going here, introduces some important under-the-hood changes that improve frametimes and thus reduce stuttering. According to the mod's developer ChucksFeedAndSeed, the mod changed to an exefs model, which allows it to keep track of previous frametimes and better time each frame. The change also reduces the teleporting effect that some get when the game stuttered with the previous version of the mod. The new version of the Dynamic FPS also works only with the game's latest version, the 1.1.0 version.
The mods that are being developed for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom vastly enhance an already excellent experience, as the development team proved its mastery at creating a compelling open-world experience that grants players the freedom to tackle its many puzzles and combat challenges any way they wish. This formula, which enhances the one introduced in Breath of the Wild in every possible way, will also be the series' formula moving forward, according to series producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaru Fujibayashi, as the formula set by Ocarina of Time had become too restrictive and didn't allow the developers to grant players the amount of freedom they wanted to give, which is something they achieved with the open-world formula of the latest two entries in the series.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available on Nintendo Switch worldwide. The game is also fully playable on PC thanks to the Ryujinx and Yuzu emulators.
