We already know that the smash success of the Mario movie surprised Nintendo to some extent, and that has everyone wondering if a Zelda movie or TV show is on the way. Legendary Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma recently said in an interview with Polygon that he's «for sure» interested in some form of adaptation.
«I have to say, I am interested,» Aonuma told Polygon via a translator. «For sure. But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately.» Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi further suggested the following: «Maybe the voice of the fans is what’s important here.»
The Mario movie was subject to jokes and speculation about Chris Pratt's "Mario voice" for months prior to launch, but it's managed to earn more than $500 million in North America, which is a feat that only three movies have managed since the start of the pandemic. In GameSpot's The Super Mario Bros. Movie review, our critic Phil Owen called the movie a feast for the eyes and one of the best big-budget action movies of 2023.
