During Sony’s Consumer Electronics Show press conference, a new The Last of Us Season 2 trailer was released, showing the release date window. The show will premiere in April, although the exact date is still not known yet.
“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind,” says the logline for The Last of Us Season 2.

The Last of Us Season 2 stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New cast members include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon. Catherine O’Hara will guest star.
Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin developed the show for HBO. Season 1 premiered in January 2024 to record-setting viewership numbers. The Last of Us Season 1 won eight Emmys, and Pascal won the SAG Award for Male Actor in a Drama Series.
The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells; with writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross.
