Plans for an It Takes Two movie produced by and possibly starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson have been revealed.
Game developer Hazelight announced in January that it had teamed up with dj2 Entertainment, the production company behind the Sonic the Hedgehog films, to adapt It Takes Two for film and TV.
And on Wednesday, Variety reported that Seven Bucks Productions (Jungle Cruise, Jumanji) had joined the project along with Amazon Studios.
Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia will produce the film on behalf of Seven Bucks, and it’s claimed The Rock could also star in the movie.
Published by Electronic Arts in March 2021, It Takes Two is a co-op adventure which has sold over three million copies and won several high-profile awards.
It tells the story of a husband and wife seemingly headed for divorce, who are forced to work together to escape a fantastical world after being transformed by magic into living dolls.
Variety’s report claims It Takes Two, which was made available via Xbox Game Pass in November, has now reached over 10 million players.
As previously reported, Sonic movie writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller will adapt the game for film and TV.
They’ll serve as executive producers on the movie, as will Hazelight founder and creative director Josef Fares, and studio manager Oskar Wolontis.
