2024 is going to be all about smartphones featuring on-device generative AI. Now that we have chipsets that are capable of it, there is not going to be anything coming in the way of this innovation. It now appears that Samsung is also joining the bandwagon, and we could see a ChatGPT-like generative AI on the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.
Thanks to the fact that both Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 support on-device generative AI, it is safe to say that the Galaxy S24 will be the first Samsung device to support this. According to a new report, the South Korean firm has announced that it will be bringing AI technologies to its devices in 2024; this announcement was made during its Q3 earnings call.
This honestly does not really come as a surprise because all modern smartphones are powered by chipsets that support on-device generative AI. It would be a missed opportunity to actually skip on that. Samsung already has a foundation in the name of Bixby, but we are not sure if the company will follow through with it or bring in something entirely new. We do know that this innovation will start with the Galaxy S24, which is Samsung's crown jewel for 2024, followed by the new foldable phones getting the same technology.
The Galaxy S24 is expected to be released in January 2024, so you can expect a lot more details about what the new smartphone series will bring to the table. As always, we will keep you posted about all that we learn regarding the new phones.
Do you think on-device generative AI is something that should be making its way to smartphones next year, or is this technology not useful on smartphones? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
