Telltale Games has announced that episode one of The Expanse: A Telltale Series will launch on 27th July 2023 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Those who remember the bad old days of months long waits between episodes will also be glad to hear that the following four episodes will release every two weeks after 27th July, with the full series concluding on 21st September (if my calendar counting is correct!).
Announced at The Game Awards 2021, The Expanse is the first new IP that Telltale is tackling since it was reformed in 2019. In development by Deck Nine Games – with form in this genre from Life is Strange: Before the Storm and Life is Strange: True Colors – This game is a prequel to the popular sci-fi TV series.
The game stars Camina Drummer, with Cara Gee reprising her role from the TV series to navigate a brutal and bloody mutiny onboard the Artemis. Being set before the TV series and books, it’s unlikely we will meet many of the other characters from the show, though you never know. A few other familiar faced Belters could easily make an appearance, and we all know how much gamers love to dig around for easter eggs.
You’ll not only have to navigate conversations and interpersonal dynamics to survive, but will also have a more action oriented style of gameplay. You’ll scour shipwrecks, use mag boots to walk on walls and ceilings, and float through open space with Zero-G thrusters.
We look forward to seeing how it all comes together for the final game.
