The Elder Scrolls Online base game Update 44 is now live on PC and Mac, with overhauled PvP, expanded Scribing, Golden Pursuits task and rewards system, and two new companions.
PVP gets some serious changes, including a couple of reward changes, like a revamp to rewards in Imperial City. Battlegrounds have been completely overhauled and now matches are only available as two-sided battles in 4v4 and 8v8 game modes. The 8v8 matches have all game modes and feature powerups on the field. The 4v4 matches come in Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Crazy King, and have their own features like lives mechanics and spectator mode.
Now, the Pit Daemons and Fire Drakes are your teams, and the update introduces seven new maps –four for 8v8 and three for 4v4. The main queues are for level 50, but if you’re between 10-49 there are level- banded 8v8 matches.
Golden Pursuits is the ESO version of a limited-time rewards system, similar to battle pass systems. The particular tasks will appear during limited time windows and let you earn some new account-wide rewards that include in-game currency, items, and more. The first campaign is set to go live sometime after the update is available for all, so we are looking at sometime after mid-november once the update hits consoles on November 13th.
Two new companions become available with the update: Tanlorin, a High Elf mixing Soul Magic and Dragonknight abilities, and Zerith-Var, a Khajiit necromancer. They’re available in the Crown Store, and free for ESO Plus members.
Also in the update are a couple of tech updates, a refreshed tutorial, two new homes, and a series of improvements and fixes. ESO now supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) on PC.
There’s a ton more in the full patch notes for the PC/Mac release.
