The Elder Scrolls Online Prepares for the Endless Archive By Introducing Custodian Master Malkhest
The Endless Archive is on its way starting on October 30th when Update 40 arrives on PC/Mac. The Elder Scrolls Online team is kicking off some previews to enrich your experience with a new character introduction. Meet the archive’s custodian, Master Malkhest, one of the mortals in Apocrypha.
Master Malkhest’s lore entry and character introduction is done in the form of a letter, as usual. This letter is addressed to the Filers, and several responses from different Filers follow.
«He could ask us to find him more accurate books, but I don’t think he’s interested in the facts. He’s interested in what mortals perceive as the truth—which is a distinction most researchers avoid,” says Filer Xess. Xess starts the letter chain with an order to start compiling stories about Malkhest, including any interactions with him, in order to build a profile of sorts. “This mortal is curious. I don’t like curious things,” Xess concludes.
Malkhest is well read and widely read from the descriptions offered, which fits for the caretaker and custodian of such a space as the Endless Archive in a knowledge-filled place as Apocrypha. From the letters, there are a number of assumptions made, including about a mysterious past. Ultimately, the Filers discuss various stories, interactions, finding recipes for herbal remedies and even a couple of near-fatal falls as Malhest took some tumbles while distracted by reading as he walked.
“He was not always a devotee of Hermaeus Mora, you know. I asked him about it after the second near-fatal fall. Master Malkhest was a teacher of young mortals in his youth. But then he became drawn to research and quickly proved himself quite capable.”
