The Day Before – the open world survival MMO currently sitting at the top of Steam's most wishlisted games chart – is switching to Unreal Engine 5, but will be delayed to March 1, 2023 as a result.
Revealed exclusively with IGN, developer Fntastic has released a statement explaining that the game will shift to the advanced new engine, but also has to be delayed from its originally scheduled June 21 release.
The statement reads: "Millions of people have added The Day Before to their wishlist, making The Day Before one of the most anticipated games in the world.
"Feeling and understanding the great responsibility that we face, with enormous gratitude in our hearts, were pleased to announce that The Day Before is switching to the new Unreal Engine 5 technology! The transition to a more advanced and adapted open worlds engine, will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic.
"In this regard, we inform you that the new release date of the game will be March 1st, 2023."
The Day Before is a gritty open world MMO, aiming to mix survival gameplay with in-depth combat, vehicle gameplay, and even social elements inspired by the likes of Animal Crossing. Even before its switch to Unreal 5, the game was aiming for high-end visuals, having shown off a 4K raytracing trailer.
