Have you ever wondered what some older games would look like if they were remade today? A Reddit user recently posted a showcase of what The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim could look like remade in Unreal Engine 5. This post has the community in awe of just how beautiful Skyrim can look.
The video was originally sourced from Hall 00117’s YouTube channel. Hall 00117 has uploaded multiple videos imagining Skyrim rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on two areas of the game, Riverwood and the Western Watchtower. Both of these are iconic early-game areas that most Skyrim players will be familiar with.
The results speak for themselves. These videos showcase the most beautiful environments to ever grace The Elder Scrolls series. From the lighting to the environmental details, everything looks incredible. If The Elder Scrolls VI delivers visuals of this level, franchise fans have a lot to look forward to.
If you’re a fan of some of Bethesda’s other games, then the channel’s other content is well worth checking out. It has similar videos made for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout New Vegas. The Oblivion reimaging is especially fascinating, as it’s a 16-year-old game. Seeing an RPG classic look this incredible is amazing.
The Skyrim showcase is amazing, but it doesn’t mean that’s what games are going to look like. To be clear, this clip is not showing a playable version of a rebuilt Skyrim. It is a custom-made environment put together using Unreal Engine with mostly original assets. Its scale is far smaller than any Elder Scrolls game. Expanding something of this quality to cover a fully-fledged AAA RPG would be quite the task.
