One of the key features that Unreal Engine 5 boasts is the underlying technology allowing modern machines to render scenes in real time at an insane level of detail, rivaling the production quality of movies and television shows. There's a reason why many game developers choose to build their next title using Unreal Engine 5 such as the newWitcher game, and given the stance of Epic Games on allowing everyone to download the engine freely, it's no wonder that someone attempted to propel Skyrim forward into the future.
Oblivion Modder Shows What the Town of Skingrad Looks Like in Unreal Engine 5
Christian Gomm, a freelance environment artist familiar with the engine, posted a video on YouTube showcasing Riverwood, one of Skyrim's most iconic locations, rendered in Unreal Engine 5. While the video isn't rendered in real time given that it offers a 4K resolution (past the limits of Gomm's hardware), it nonetheless provides a tantalizing glimpse into the wondrous capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, as well as showcasing the beauty of the original game in a new light.
