Final Fantasy XIV’s next patch, The Dark Throne, will be the subject of this week’s new Letter from the Producer. The team has opened a minisite for the update, with a peek into some of what to expect.
The release of The Dark Throne is currently set for late May 2023. The new Letter from the Producer stream is set for this Friday, May 12th, at 4 AM PDT, and this stream will feature part 2 of the reveals from 6.4. It’s also likely that we’ll get a firm release date as well.
So what do we know so far? The current minisite update has more on the new Main Scenario Quests on the way:
“With a gambit that would cost them their very lives, the archfiends Cagnazzo and Rubicante succeeded in destroying the voidgate hidden within the depths of Alzadaal's Legacy, thus barring the path to the Thirteenth. Yet where there is a will, there is a way-and so the Warrior of Light and allies continue the search for a new means to reach the void.”
There will be a new raid dungeon coming, Pandæmonium: Anabaseios. There isn't much info that has been revealed yet, except that Pandæmonium is spreading, and there's good reason to expect “horrors” beyond the walls of this dungeon.
A new dungeon also on the way is The Aetherfont. There’s an island known as the Isle of Hamm, and it is home to many aether wells, so it is a protected area. Naturally, if something needs protection, there must be a threat, and this dungeon will put you before it. The preview images feature a far look at the icy island with peaceful polar bears on icebergs. They also feature a boss that looks like a very angry polar infused with or mutated by these elements and standing above a team.
