However, The Conners (and Roseanne before it) never dwells too much on how Jackie loses and gains these jobs. The character has been through plenty of occupations on the two shows, but it was not until “Hot For Teacher And Writing A Wrong” (season 4, episode 12) that The Conners actually explained, for example, why Jackie no longer works as a police officer. The conversation came up during a discussion about Mark’s prescription pill abuse subplot, with Jackie claiming she would use her old police interrogation tactics to grill Darlene’s ambitious son.
