The wait for BGMI players is over! Krafton has finally unveiled its esports roadmap for the battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) for 2022. After the huge success of the first-ever BGMI tournament in 2021, which had a total of more than 200 million views and 4,93,000 peak concurrent viewership, the PUBG and BGMI maker Krafton has decided to bring the tournament back this year too. Krafton announced that BGMI 2022 will consist of four major tournaments that are said to have a prize pool of Rs. 6 crore- Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series 1 and Season 2 each awarding Rs. 2 crore in prize money. The BGMI 2022 roadmap of tournaments will open the door to national and international opportunities for gamers.
Notably, just like Garena Free Fire got banned recently, PUBG Mobile too had been banned in India back in 2020. However, PUBG was replaced by its lookalike BGMI after a few months much to the relief of Indian gamers. Krafton had announced $100 million (approximately Rs. 751 crore) in investments in India ahead of the launch of BGMI in July 2021 to boost the local gaming, esports, entertainment, and IT industries. BGMI is just seven months old, but still it has quickly become one of the most popular battle royale games in the country, and these Esports tournaments can be seen as the catalyst in the expansion of the game. So, here we have listed all the upcoming BGMI tournaments in 2022.
Krafton announced that the registrations for the Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge will begin from the end of February 2022. Though, the in-game qualifiers will be held towards the end of March. There are no specific dates that have been announced yet, but are expected to be released soon.
