The Adam Project’s Shawn Levy recalls how Johnny Depp inspired him to direct, thanks to a conversation on the set of the original 21 Jump Street. Levy began his career in Hollywood as an actor in the late '80s before becoming a full-fledged filmmaker at the end of the 20th century. As a director and producer, his filmography includes the Night at the Museum franchise, Real Steel (2011), and Arrival (2016). Following work on the latter project, Levy began moving towards science-fiction with Free Guy and The Adam Project, which drops on Netflix this week.
The Adam Project stars Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reed, a time-traveling pilot from the year 2050 who crash lands in 2022. There, he must team up with his 12-year-old self (Walker Scobell) as well as his estranged father (Mark Ruffalo) to fight off a horde of robots and save the future while confronting personal/familial issues. The highly anticipated film also stars Zoe Saldaña, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, and Alex Mallari Jr.
