Taron Egerton opens up about working with Ray Liotta on the upcoming Apple TV+ series Black Bird, one of the late actor's final roles before his death. Egerton first gained recognition for his starring role as the spy recruit Gary «Eggsy» Unwin in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The Welsh actor has also starred in several biopics, his most famous portrayal being singer Elton John in the musical Rocketman, a role which earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, though he was snubbed at the Oscars.
Egerton's latest role comes in the new Apple TV+ limited series alongside the late, great Liotta. Based on the true-crime memoir In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene, Black Bird was developed for television by the best-selling author Dennis Lehane. Egerton leads the Black Bird cast as James Keene alongside Cruella's Paul Walter Hauser, As Good as It Gets' Greg Kinnear, The Deuce's Sepideh Moafi, and Liotta as James «Big Jim» Keene. Ahead of its premiere this month, one of Black Bird's stars is opening up about his experience on set.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live guest-hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler, Egerton talked about his experience working with Liotta on Black Bird before his passing. The Rocketman star said it was hard to watch his "hero" suffering from poor health on set, as Egerton become visibly emotional while praising Liotta and discussing the "frail" state the actor was in about a year before his death.
