Jordan Peele's Nope is now playing in theaters, and it appears that the famed comedian and director has yet another horror hit on his hands. While there's been plenty of people who have heaped praise on Nope, the multi-talented celebrity is not ok with people calling him the best horror director ever, especially when compared to John Carpenter.
Peele is getting himself quite the reputation when it comes to the horror platform. There was the most famous of the bunch in Get Out, followed up by Us. He's even dabbled in horror television with the Paramount Plus version of The Twilight Zone. One of the interesting aspects of his horror films is that they all touch on different aspects of the genre. His latest endeavor has Nope dealing with aliens and considering that it appears it's getting great reviews, Peele is once again getting praise heaped on him as well.

It turns out the director feels there are limits to the kind of praise he's willing to accept. That was demonstrated when one fan took to Twitter to ask, «at what point do we declare Jordan Peele the best horror director of all time?» When comic book artist Adam Ellis asked that question, he probably didn't expect Jordan Peele himself to respond in the negative. However, the Nope director did indeed notice Ellis calling him the greatest director and was quick to make it clear that he believes there is still someone else who holds that title when it comes to the horror genre.
Peele first responded by begging Ellis to put the phone down because he didn't agree with the sentiment. He then went on to say that while he loved Ellis' enthusiasm for his work, Peele would not «tolerate any John Carpenter slander.»
