As Thor: Love and Thunder wraps up its first weekend at the box office where it raked in a whopping $302 million dollars, many fans are wondering who will direct the potential Thor 5. Now, Taika Waititi, who's directed the last two Thorfilms, is speaking up on the matter.
With the message “Thor will return” being confirmed following Thor: Love and Thunder's end credit scenes, many fans are wondering if Thor will return in another standalone film or in an action-packed team-up Avengers film. Another question is Waititi's future with the franchise he helped revive with the acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok.

In a recent interview with Insider, Waititi revealed he had no idea Marvel Studios would be adding the message about Thor returning to the big screen at the end of the film. «That was a surprise to me, too. I’m not joking,” Waititi said before he went on to recall the moment, saying, “I saw it in the theater, and I was like, ‘Oh, sh-t. Really?’ Even Chris was like, ‘What?’ But, of course, he’ll be back. He’s the best character. I mean, I may be a little biased, but he’s the most fun to watch.”
However, Waititi made it clear he would be 100 percent open to returning as Thor's director, as long as actor Chris Hemsworth returned to star as the Space Viking. “Now, I don’t know what would be next. I would definitely do one, but only if Chris did it,» Waititi said. “But it would need to be something surprising and unexpected for me to want to do it. Like what would be the new take?”
