Supernatural’s Mark Pellegrino to Lead Drug Dramedy Series A Motel, Network Not Yet Attached
Supernatural actor Mark Pellegrino is set to lead the dramedy A Motel, though a network is not yet attached to the project which tells the story of a group of outcasts that get caught up in some serious events.
The story will focus on those outcasts as they work at a seedy motel. They find themselves in danger after they accidentally uncover a drug smuggling plot for the mafia. The project hails from Brian A. Metcalf, who wrote and created Underdeveloped. Additional casting for A Motel is currently being finalized.
The series is written and executive produced by Metcalf, who will also act in the project in addition to being the showrunner and director. Asif Akbar and Kelly Arjen will also executive produce, with Akbar directing some of the episodes. Pellegrino will serve as co-executive producer. The project marks a reunion between Pellegrino and Metcalf, who previously worked together on Underdeveloped. That series was told via mockumentary, centering on a group of producers forced to work together at a production company.
Filming is expected to begin next month in Las Vegas on A Motel, which will consist of six episodes. Although, as mentioned, the series doesn’t currently have a network or streamer attached. According to Deadline, It’s being independently financed by the producers and the plan is to sell it after production.
The actor is well-known for his role as Lucifer’s vessel, Nick, in Supernatural. Lucifer had been played by others on the show, though Pellegrino’s time with the character was the most frequent. From seasons 12 to 14, he was a main cast member on the monster-hunting series. In addition to his run on Supernatural, Pellegrino’s other television credits include The X-Files, Castle, Grimm, Dexter, Lost, Being Human, 13 Reasons Why, Criminal Minds, and 9-1-1.
