Several new images of Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad reveal early looks for the character. Directed by David Ayer, the 2016 Warner Bros. film was the first villain-centric project for the DCEU. Aside from Task Force X, Suicide Squad also debuted the franchise's Clown Prince of Crime, played by Leto. There was so much anticipation for the actor's take on the iconic bad guy, but his appearance ended up being one of the biggest disappointments of the film.
Knowing how popular the Joker is, the marketing for Suicide Squad largely focused on his role in the film. Unfortunately, his involvement wasn't anything more than a glorified cameo. He barely had any ties to the story aside from his relationship with Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Arguably, the Joker could've been nixed from the blockbuster and it wouldn't have had any significant impact on the story. But, apparently, the Clown Prince of Crime was meant to have longer screentime, hence why they were so meticulous in nailing the character's look in the flick.
