The Joker once mocked an unanimously loved aspect of the Batman mythos: the future bat suit worn by Terry McGinnis in Batman Beyond. While fans expect the Joker to commit crimes, they don’t usually account for his poor taste in costume design. However, he has a relatively low bar regarding sleek, matching clothes.
DC Comics has had numerous ambitious crossovers with other publishers through the years, including Joker/Mask with Dark Horse Comics. The miniseries was an effortless merging of The Mask with the Clown Prince of Crime, constantly breaking the fourth wall and poking fun at Batman lore. However, Joker goes a few steps too far inJoker/Mask #4, written by Henry Gilroy with art by Ramon Bachs, ink by Howard M. Shum, and colors by Dave McCaig.

While the Joker is reinventing himself with dramatic new looks, he morphs a few times with fresh personas including Joker II, Joker Classic, Joker 2000, and Joker Beyond. The final look incorporates a Joker-themed version of theBatman Beyond costume. The purple tights, green underarm wings, and angular J emblem on his chest call back to Terry McGinnis’ iconic suit. In response, Harley Quinn voices that she likes the costume, saying, “Skin tight an all clingy! Not too shabby, Puddin’.” to which the Joker replies,“Sure it's a little 'Saturday morning' but what the…” The parody is surprising in part because the sophisticated and dangerousBatman Beyond costume is usually considered one of the coolest looks the Dark Knight has ever had.
At the time of the miniseries’ publication, Batman Beyond was only an animated series and hadn’t yet permeated the DC Universe in comics set outside of the DC Animated
