In order to protect Batman, Jason Todd aka Red Hood finally achieves a goal he set before he even became Robin: stealing the wheels off the Batmobile. Out of all the members of the Bat-family, none have had a more contentious relationship with Batman than Red Hood. Despite Jason’s willingness to push the line and even kill to protect Gotham, it’s clear that he still looks up to Bruce in his own way. Nothing could be more characteristic of their relationship than the way Todd utterly plunders the Batcave…as a message of love to his adoptive father.
The rocky relationship between Todd and Batman has its roots in their very first meeting, in which a young Todd, living on the streets, tries to steal the tires off the Batmobile. Although this audacity nets Todd a tenure as Robin, his relationship with Batman is far more combative and confrontational than his predecessor, Dick Grayson. This role as the black sheep of the Bat-Family is further explored in the Webtoon series Wayne Family Adventures by Starbite and CRC Payne. Here, Todd is the aloof older brother, guarded in his affections but still looking out for the rest of the family in his own unique way.
