Subnautica's Universe Will Expand In Unannounced New Game
A job posting from developer Unknown Worlds has revealed a new Subnautica project may be in the works, though the game remains unannounced. Subnautica is a challenging science fiction survival game that entered early access in 2014, before achieving a full launch in 2018. The game's narrative, which unfolds as players work to get off the world they have been stranded on, is filled with mystery and intrigue, offering a well-rounded survival and narrative experience.
Since the launch of Subnautica, Unknown Worlds has also released the follow-up title Subnautica: Below Zero. Like the first game, Subnautica: Below Zero began in early access, before achieving a full launch in 2021. Below Zero adds new content to the original story, with players returning to Planet 4546B and exploring the icy, arctic regions not accessible in the first game. Despite the popularity of Subnautica, further installments have yet to be announced, leaving fans to speculate on the future of the series.

However, in a recent job listing shared by developer Unknown Worlds on Twitter, it has been revealed the company may be working on a new, unannounced project for the Subnautica series. The job listing, requesting applications for a Senior Narrative Designer, states Unknown Worlds wants someone to "work with us to help shape the next game in the Subnautica universe!" Unfortunately, there has been no further information in the post or from the developer on what the project could be, and if it will take place on the same planet or focus on the same stories from the previous Subnautica games.
