A new world record for Elden Ring speedrunning was set on April 11 that saw the game completed in under 9 minutes, and the record was beaten again on April 12 for a runtime of under 7 minutes — but just how are these speedrunners using glitches to complete Elden Ring so quickly? Elden Ring is an enormous game with so many hidden secrets that it takes roughly 50 hours on average to complete the main quest (and potentially double or even triple that for those planning to explore the majority of its secrets), yet every week it seems that someone sets an almost absurdly short world record for speedrunning the game. While skilled players have been able to find ways of getting around major areas using Torrent to walk on Elden Ring's invisible paths, or using clever in-game parkour skills, none of these techniques have come close to the newly discovered glitch that many have dubbed «The Zip».
