Street Fighter 6’s final Year 1 DLC character, Akuma, is one that fans have been looking forward to for some time. The fan-favourite series veteran is set to close out the game’s first wave of DLC fighters sometime this spring, and Capcom has now announced a specific release date for his arrival.
Akuma will become available to all owners of the Year 1 Character Pass and Ultimate Pass in under a month, on May 22. His release will be accompanied by a balancing patch that will make adjustments to the entire roster.
Capcom has also released a gameplay trailer showing Akuma in action. Set in the new stage, Enma’s Hollow (which will arrive alongside Akuma for Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners), the trailer showcases the grisly fighter taking on Ryu in crunching combat. As you might imagine, the Satsui no Hado has its say, to say the very least. Check out the trailer below.
With Evo Japan currently ongoing, several other major fighting games have also revealed new details and updates, including Guilty Gear Strive and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Tekken 8 has also announced a new stage, a new character, and free upcoming story content.
Meanwhile, as previously confirmed, Year 2 content is also in development for Street Fighter 6.
