The newest poster for Stranger Things season 4 gives a close glimpse at Vecna, the new monster who will be coming to Hawkins, Indiana. The series, which launched on Netflix in 2016, is about to enter season 4, which is premiering Part 1 on May 27, 2022, and Part 2 on July 1, 2022. In the show, the town of Hawkins is an access point to the Upside Down, an alternate dimension from which a variety of hellish beings emerge to terrorize the citizens, especially the intrepid group of kids played by Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink, who joined Stranger Things in season 2.
The very first monster to enter the series was the Demogorgon, a creature with a horrifying «petal mouth» that abducted various Hawkins residents including Schnapp's character Will Byers. The Demogorgon has appeared in various forms since then, including as a pet to the Russians who run the prison where Hopper is being kept, but many other monsters have set foot in town since season 1 as well. This includes the Mind Flayer, the overlord of the Upside Down who was revealed to have a psychic link to Will Byers in season 2. Both of these primary monsters have also appeared in various guises and stages of evolution, including the notorious variation of the Mind Flayer that appears as a giant spider.
