Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp addresses the ongoing speculation on Will Byers' sexuality. Stranger Things season 4 part 1 released on Netflix May 27, with part 2 due to become available on Friday, July 1. Schnapp has returned along with much of the original cast to the hit streaming series, which once again has left fans with questions about this season's storylines.
Stranger Things season 4 picks up in Spring 1986, nine months after the events of the season 3 finale, and sees its main characters not just in Hawkins, Indiana, but also in California and the Soviet Union. Will, his brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and their mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) have now adopted Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and relocated to a small town in California, where the two younger kids struggle to fit in at school. While Eleven's problems are a bit more pronounced, Will's withdrawn nature and continued feelings of abandonment by Mike has fans continuing to wonder if he might in fact be gay, given that the series has yet to define his sexuality.

In an interview with Schnapp and Brown for Variety, they elaborate on the approach to Will's sexuality in season 4. They bring up how much Will has gone through since season 1, which could have left him dealing with a number of unresolved issues. Schnapp acknowledges that the series' creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have left Will's sexuality ambiguous, and Brown chimes in to affirm that the lack of labels really shouldn't be an issue.
