WARNING! Major spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4 Vol.1
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer say fans should be concerned about their favorite characters going into season 4 volume II. On top of its successful blend of '80s nostalgia and horror, Stranger Things is a coming-of-age story following the inhabitants of Hawkins, Indiana. The shows growing cast of central characters includes Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), Mike (Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Erica (Priah Ferguson), Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Steve (Joe Keery), Robin (Maya Hawke), Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder).
Following a three-year hiatus, Stranger Things returned to Netflix on May 27, with season 4 being hailed as the series' darkest and most mature entry thus far. The series has been able to push the boundaries of its TV-14 rating thanks in large part to its new big bad, Vecna. Named by the protagonists after the Dungeons & Dragons spell caster, Vecna, who torments teenagers by invading their minds and preying on past trauma/guilt. While Max already escaped Vecna, season 4 volume I ends with Nancy in his cross hairs, leaving fans to wonder whether she will survive the Upside Down's latest monster. On top of that, Hopper, Joyce, and Murray are in a Russian prison, Will, Mike, Jonathan, and Argyle (Eduardo Franco) are somewhere in California, and Eleven just got her groove back.
