A new fan poster for Stranger Thingsseason 4 perfectly recreates the poster for A Nightmare on Elm Street. By the time A Nightmare on Elm Street was released in 1984, director Wes Craven had already started to make a name for himself in the horror genre with The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. However, A Nightmare on Elm Street is arguably his most popular film because of the now-iconic character Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). The Springwood Slasher terrified audiences back in the '80s, and the poster art from Matthew Peak played a small part in gaining the film attention.
There's no denying A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most well-known horror films to come from the '80s, so it isn't surprising that Stranger Things season 4 was heavily influenced by Craven's work. Season 4's big bad has similar powers to Freddy Krueger, being able to kill his victims in real-life while they are in a trance-like state after taunting them about their past trauma. Vecna's appearance strongly resembles the character in Dungeons & Dragons, but the villain's claws on his left hand are also reminiscent of Freddy's glove. Englund even plays the character Victor Creel, which was a bit of a meta cameo since a Freddy Krueger cardboard cut-out was included in a scene inside Robin and Steve's Family Video.

Artist diamonddead has now taken these similarities and combined them into a single poster. The artwork recreates Peak's painting, replacing Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Freddy with Vecna.
