Stranger Things season 4, part 1 packs a lot into its seven episodes. The Netflix show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, previously described this as their Game of Thrones season, with the characters spread out and off on their own adventures.
Set six months after the events of season 3, which culminated in Eleven moving to California with Will and his family, Stranger Things season 4 sees the gang face "a new and horrifying supernatural threat." Before long, they stumble across "a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down."
Eleven entrusts Dr. Sam Owens to help her become a "superhero" again, while Dustin, Max, and the others try to stop a murderous entity, dubbed Vecna, from wreaking more havoc on Hawkins. Elsewhere, Joyce and Murray set out to rescue Jim Hopper, who's supposedly alive and being held in a Russian prison. It's fun, it's thrilling, it's surprisingly emotional – and it's every bit worth the three-year wait. (Seriously. Friends don't lie).
