Steam sales come and go, but not all of them offer massive savings on every major installment in a classic franchise like Tomb Raider. That's precisely the claim one of the newest Steam promotions can make, which leaves it one of the better sales in recent memory.
Valve, the company that operates Steam, recently announced upcoming Steam sale events, which include the Spring Sale, Summer Sale, Autumn Sale, and Winter Sale. Those events are set to run a week apiece, and between them there will be genre-based sales such as Puzzle Fest, Sports Fest, and Strategy Fest. In the meantime, individual games and even franchises sometimes see steep discounts offered without much in the way of advance notice, which is what happened in this case.
Rumor: Embracer Leased Tomb Raider Rights to Amazon for $600 Million
The current sale on Steam offers substantial discounts on every major Tomb Raider game in the series thus far, as well as a couple of offshoot titles (still featuring the adventurous Lara Croft) and a bunch of DLC. Most of the games on the list, many of them already priced much lower than they were when they first released, are seeing savings as substantial as 89% off their regular pricing. Most of the earliest installments are available for under a dollar, while Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is being offered at $12.53 instead of its usual $89.96. The Tomb Raider Collection bundle, which features the major games plus DLC, is offered for $96.53, a 74% savings compared to its regular price of $365.47. Those discounts represent some of the best savings on offer since Square Enix made two Tomb Raider games free for a while during the long period of COVID-19 social isolation.
