Sons of the Forest is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2014 survival horror hit The Forest. Initially revealed at the 2019 Game Awards, the second game is also based around surviving on an island filled with cannibals and monsters. While the first game followed the story of a survivor looking for his son Timmy following an airplane crash on the island of The Forest, the story of Sons of the Forest has been shrouded in mystery, even so long after the game was first announced.
Like many recent gaming titles, Sons of the Forest has faced multiple delays. First, the game was slated for a late 2021 launch, but this was then pushed to early 2022. A May 2022 release date then transitioned to an October 2022 launch. While fans have been given disturbing new trailers to keep them interested in Sons of the Forest, most of the plot details have been kept under wraps. Now the game's Steam page has launched and some of these details are coming to light.
Sons of the Forest Horror Game Gets Disturbing New Trailer and Release Date
The Steam page for Sons of the Forest tells fans that they will be taking on the role of a character who has been sent to find a missing billionaire on a remote island. This character then quickly realizes that the island is full of cannibals and the new enemies seen in the Sons of the Forest trailers. It is interesting that, unlike The Forest's protagonist Eric Leblanc, this new character is nameless, possibly signifying character creation elements.
There is also the element of the second game overlapping with the first. It is highly likely that, considering the fact that Eric Leblanc ends up on an island that sounds similar to the setting of Sons of the Forest, he could make a cameo appearance in the second
