Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 Details Leak

We're expecting it to launch in June, but a Korean retailer just leaked details of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 ahead of the official reveal.

As The Verge reports(Opens in a new window), the product listing(Opens in a new window) reveals little has changed from one generation to the next. The 2020 Surface Laptop Go runs Windows 10 using a 1GHz Intel Core i5-10351G1 combined with up to 8GB or RAM, and up to a 256GB SSD. If this new listing is accurate, the 2022 model upgrades to a a Core i5-1135G7 processor and will ship with Windows 11. Both processors are quad-core 10nm chips, but the Core i5-1135G7 has a larger Smart Cache and higher Turbo frequency.

When we reported on the Go 2 rumors last month, it was expected the base configuration of the original, which shipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, would remain. This new product listing only shows 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, which sounds like a much more capable laptop and hopefully is the new base configuration.

Not much else is different on this budget laptop, which is expected to cost from $549 to $899 depending on the configuration. Microsoft is sticking with the 12.4-inch display and 3:2 aspect ratio, the same port selection, and there's no hint that a backlit keyboard has been added. The webcam is still 720p, but the listing states it's improved over the original, and battery life is rated at 13.5 hours. The listing also shows four color options, suggesting the rumored Sage color is going to be offered alongside Platinum, Ice Blue, and Sandstone.

With the Surface Laptop Go 2 expected to be available in June, and this listing leaking the details early, it shouldn't be long before Microsoft decides to make the details official and tell us when we can
