Warning! Spoilers ahead for Darth Vader #23
The latest issue of Darth Vader is teasing a return to podracing for the Dark Lord of the Sith. While Anakin Skywalker was a former life Darth Vader has worked hard to kill and bury, multiple events have brought that past back to the surface following The Empire Strikes Back. Case in point, this new issue sees Darth Vader encountering several key people from Anakin's past who may have provided the perfect opportunity for the Sith Lord to podrace once more.
In previous issues of Darth Vader from Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco, the Emperor's Fist has been hunting down agents of Crimson Dawn who've infiltrated multiple levels of the Imperial hierarchy. Determined to bring order to the chaos, Darth Vader has been relentless in his mission. However, Sabé has returned once more, the former handmaid and decoy to Vader's late wife Padmé Amidala. The last time Sabé encountered Vader she had tried to kill him as revenge for Padmé and Anakin's death. However, she's since learned the truth that Anakin and Darth Vader are one and the same and that Padmé died believing that there was still good in the Dark Lord.

To that end, the new Darth Vader #23 sees Sabé using the memory of both Padmé and Anakin's mother to convince Darth Vader to help her save a group of Tatooine refugees she'd freed from slavery but are currently being oppressed by a governor connected to Crimson Dawn. Agreeing to help Sabé to dismantle the Dawn even further, Vader encounters none other than grown-up Kitster and Wald, Anakin's best friends when he was just a boy on Tatooine.
