While Star Wars weapons are usually a source of fun and excitement, one fan on social media has called out the franchise for a strange weapon choice for one villainous group stemming from its otherwise well-received animated properties.
Star Wars Inquisitors have likely had more of an impact on fans than any other group of characters introduced, as their quest to hunt down and eliminate survivors of Order 66 for Darth Vader and Sidious brings them into conflict with fan-favorite characters repeatedly. While some fans initially questioned who the Inquisitors were, they very quickly became a solid addition to both the animated Star Wars: Rebels, Star Wars: Jedi game franchise, and even the live-action shows Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi andStar Wars: Ahsoka.
Despite this quick ascension to relevance, many fans still wondered why the Inquisitor’s lightsabers were so different from the forms seen in previous Star Wars media, as each Inquisitor wielded a dual-bladed saber with a round hilt that spun around the guard, marking a significant change that was probably not for the better. While many were content to ignore it, Reddit user APerson2021 went a step further and aired their grievances. Taking to r/StarWars to put up a post titled, “In my opinion (which you do not have to agree with) the spinning lightsabres that The Inquisitors use are ridiculous,” the user would state bluntly, “I despise everything about the spinning lightsabers -I don't know even know where to begin with them.” Specifying the worst part about these special weapons, APerson2021 would highlight the incident in Star Wars: Rebels where Inquisitors were shown using these spinning lightsabers as propellers to escape danger helicopter style.
