As the roster continues to grow, Dakota Johnson is excitedly teasing the new cast of the upcoming Madame Web movie. Johnson is leading the cast of the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe outing as the titular hero alongside Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney, Sweet Girl's Isabela Merced, Ghostbusters: Afterlife's Celeste O'Connor and The Mauritanian's Tahar Rahim. The Defenders and Jessica Jones alum SJ Clarkson is at the helm for Madame Web with a script from Kerem Sanga and Morbius duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
Development on a Madame Web movie was first announced in late 2019 when Sony brought back Sazama and Sharpless to pen the script for the SSU movie following their work on Morbius. Sony would hire Clarkson to develop and direct a then-unknown female-fronted Marvel title the following year, with the studio eyeing Charlize Theron and Amy Adams for the film, though would shift gears as Sanga was brought on to re-write the script and Johnson signing on to star in early 2022. With filming reportedly gearing up to begin next month on Madame Web ahead of its 2023 release, one star is sharing some insight for how the film is coming together.
