As promised, Nintendo showed off 10 minutes of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay today, but there was also a big surprise at the end of the video: a special-edition Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch OLED. The Tears of the Kingdom-themed Switch OLED ($360) looks absolutely stunning, and it will be available on April 28. In addition to the console, there's a special-edition Switch Pro controller ($75) and a carrying case ($25) that will launch May 12, the same day as the game. All three Zelda-themed products are expected to be live for preorder today.
The console features a gold and white design. A Triforce is adorned on the center of the dock. The back panel of the console itself has a circular pattern matching the print on the right side of the dock. Meanwhile. each of the gold Joy-Con controllers have unique patterns.
Like previous special-edition Switch OLED consoles, the Tears of the Kingdom model does not come with the game--you'll have to preorder that separately.
The Switch Pro controller is black with a gold-accented pattern, but the right handle is solid white, which is probably alluding to whatever is going on with Link's arm in the game. The carrying case rounds out the set with the same swirling circular pattern and a large Triforce emblazoned on the front.
The gameplay demonstration confirmed that weapon durability will return, and there will be a new dynamic with makeshift weapons at Link's disposal.
